The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world’s great long distance walk trails, stretching nearly 1,000 kilometres from the Perth Hills, to Albany on the south coast. The Track is free and passes through the heart of the scenic south west of Australia.

Dwellingup is the first ‘Track Town’, approximately 12 days walking from the start of the Track in the Perth Hills, and a popular resting spot for those venturing the 6-8 week end-to-end adventure. But Dwellingup is also an ideal place to access the Track for day walks or shorter overnight hikes. It’s closer than you think, only a 1 ¼ hrs drive from Perth or 40 minutes from Mandurah/Rockingham, and here you can discover the peace and tranquillity of the Bibbulmun Track.

The Track follows the Murray River through the picturesque Murray Valley, through some beautiful jarrah/marri forests with expansive views over undulating farmland. There is a choice of walks in the area – enjoy a day walk and picnic at a typical Bibbulmun campsite, stroll along the banks of the Murray River or experience an overnight camping adventure – the campsites are equipped with a rustic timber sleeping shelter, pit toilet, rainwater tank and tent sites.

Opening Times:

Contact the Bibbulmun Track Foundation who provide a free information service to walkers.  The Foundation Offices are open  Monday Friday 9am – 4pm.  The best times to walk the Bibbulmun Track are Spring through Autumn.  As a general rule walking in the summer months is not recommended  especially in the Northern section where the risk of bush fire is great and it is just too hot to be a pleasant experience. For a safe and enjoyable walk plan ahead, wear appropriate clothing & footwear, take adequate food and water and check out the weather and latest Track Conditions.

The Foundation also provides an equipment hire service and free in-depth trip planning advice for its members.  They produce a calendar of events twice a year with guided events for all ages and fitness levels, operate 2 all-inclusive guided 8-day Best of the Bibbulmun Walking Tours and provide Bibbulmun Walking Breaks – self-guided walking and accommodation packages.

Foundation Offices are open Monday Friday 9am – 4pm.
